     It's best to have a budget when choosing gifts for more than one person.

     Set a budget. Before you begin looking for that special gift, you should have a set spending amount that you don't want to exceed. You will find a wide variety of gifts to choose from, and some can be very pricey; so unless you aren't worried about the cost, it helps to know what you can spend without breaking you.

     Choose a gift for your spouse or partner. She may be one of the easiest people to buy for because you know her well enough to know what she would really love. Consider giving jewelry, as it makes a wonderful memento for years to come. (It's a great idea for men as well.) If your budget does not allow it, consider flowers and chocolate.

     Choose a gift for your family. This is a tradition many people celebrate, and can be followed on any budget. If you don't have many monetary limitations, a trip to a getaway destination is something your family members would never forget.

     Choose a gift for your children. Children aren't picky, and it's likely you already know what they really want. You can play it safe with a toy or a book they have been wanting; but if you want to do something more ambitious and with a forward-looking spirit, you can give them a complete bedroom makeover as a New Year's gift (which will also help incorporate some family time, as well).

     Honor those special friends. You can have your own New Year's celebration together or treat them to a movie and dinner somewhere neither of you have been. Or you could simply send close friends a nice little card stating what they mean to you and wishing for good times ahead.
