Friendship bracelets are commonly worn by buddies as a symbol of their bond. There a numerous styles of friendship bracelets available in stores, but handmade friendship bracelets can be made inexpensively and hold a great deal of sentimental value. They can be personalized to include your friend's favorite colors and matching buttons or charms that symbolize your friendship. A braided friendship bracelet is quick and easy to make.

• Embroidery floss, three colors, at least 72-inches long
• Scissors
• Tape
• 2 identical uttons

     Purchase embroidery floss in three different colors. Use your favorite color, your friend's favorite color and a third color that complements the two.

     For each bracelet, cut three 36-inch strands of each color.

     Combine the strands and line them up so the ends are even. Fold the strands in half so that you have six strands in each color. Make a knot 1 inch from where the strands are folded to create a small loop. Before you tighten the knot, maneuver the ends of the strands so that the colors are separated into three groups.

     Tape the loop to a table using tape. Alternatively, you can use a clipboard to hold the loop in place while your braid the bracelet.

     Divide the strands so that you have three groups and each group is made up of six strands of the same color. Hold one color in your right hand another in your left. Let the third color hand freely in the middle.

     Cross the group of strands in your left hand over the group in the middle. This group will become the new middle group. Then, cross the group of strands in your right hand over the group of strands in the middle.

     Continue braiding the bracelet by alternating the strands until you reach the desired length of your bracelet.

     Pass two or three of the center strands through the back loop of a button.

     Alternate the strands one over the other two more times to secure the button in place and tie the ends of the strands in a knot. Double your knot for extra security.

     Cut the loose ends of your bracelet to form tassels beneath the button. Remove the tape from the top loop and put the bracelet on. The top loop should fit around the button to fasten the bracelet.
